Hi! i'm an incoming international student attending this fall, could you do a post on synder phillips hall? because i can't find any videos on what the dorms are like and i've heard that they're pretty small. Additionally, does MSU have touch rugby/touch football? sorry i've asked so many questions!
Hi, there! First of all, congratulations on becoming a Spartan.
I did a feature on Snyder-Phillips back in June, so feel free to check it out here.
As far as finding videos of living in the residence halls, I found a few that might interest you:
The first is one in a series of four about individual student’s experiences living in the residence halls. This one is from a freshman:
The next one is a little cheesy, but is from MSUToday and shows the inside of some fairly cluttered rooms:
The last one is a little more general, but does pan over some residence hall rooms throughout:
Overall, the size of your room will depend on quite a few factors. The rooms can vary in size from hall to hall, and even within the halls themselves in the older dorms. The largest rooms on campus are in Brody Neighborhood and are 14’ by 14’, which is quite spacious. Typically, halls that have community-style bathrooms have bigger rooms, whereas suite-style are a bit smaller. Also, the amount of space in the room will vary based on how you arrange the furniture and how much stuff you bring with you to school. By next fall, all of the furniture on campus will be modular, which means the beds are loftable and shelf and drawer space can be stacked any way you like.
MSU offers flag football through intramural (IM) sports, which is fairly cheap to play and takes place in the fall. IM is open to all students. For rugby, MSU has both men’s and women’s club teams, which are typically pay to play. According to the website for the women’s team, dues are $75 a year and they are always accepting new members, with no experience necessary.
Hope all of that helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask away. :]
